Below are sample fees for transport of sheep. goats, and dogs on TravelWithRonK transport. These are ballpark samples so please check with me to verify that the numbers are appropriate for your situation.  Click here to view a worksheet to estimate base costs.

The fee is calculated based upon distance from pick up to drop off, the current gasoline prices, and the number of animals in the transport. A detailed copy of the fee plan is posted in the 'Files' section of the TravelWithRonK Yahoo group. For these examples I am assuming a national gasoline average price of $2.25 per gallon. That is an 80% fuel surcharge level for my calculations.

1000 Miles $200.00 $160.00 $360.00 $50 each
1500 Miles 250.00 200.00 450.00 60 each
2000 Miles 300.00 240.00 540.00 65 each
2500 Miles 350.00 280.00 630.00 70 each
over 2500 400.00 320.00 720.00 75 each

It is immediately apparent that multiple animals will reduce the cost per animal to transport rapidly. The first animal is the expensive one. Additional animals will bring down the cost per animal quickly so it might be worthwhile to consider purchasing several animals.

The minimum information I need for PRELIMINARY PLANNING is:

  • pick up and drop off city, state
  • animal species, age, size, number, temperament, special concerns

The minimum information I need for DETAILED TRIP PLANNING is:

  • pick up name, address, phones, email, and local directions
  • drop off name, address, phones, email, and local directions
  • animal species, age, size, number, temperament, special concerns such as pregnancy, horn size, heavy coat, aggressive temperament, medications, allergies, etc.
  • I have the right to refuse any animal based upon physical appearance and prior positive lab test results
  • by local directions I mean information I will need to travel from a major highway to your ranch or farm
  • include visual clues, street names, difficult/tricky turns, steep climbs, mileage, etc.
  • Remember that I may arrive at night so visual clues must fall within headlight range. Colors are impossible to see at night. Please have LARGE numbers on your mailbox or entrance gate
  • typically I need directions for the last 10-20 miles
  • I am 50 feet long so I need appropriate turnaround room. Please warn me in advance if there may be a problem making a turnaround
  • I need a minimum of 11 feet of ground clearance. Please check your drives for low branches and low hanging wire lines
